Pont sur la Paudèze in Lavaux region was a typical “condition assessment before maintenance work” mission. We focussed on the detection of contaminated regions on the bridge deck.
Our analysis showed that the regions with a potential higher corrosion risk were concentrated above the piles where internal forces are the highest. Also, we detected that the waterproofing layer was deficient within the last third of the bridge. This was caused by a breach within the overlap of two waterproofing layers.
The bridge was renovated in 2018, local resurfacing was performed, the waterproofing was changed, and the cantilever was reinforced using UHPFRC (Ultra-High Performance Fibre Reinforced Concrete).
