This bridge in Biel area was inspected in collaboration with VSL. The goal of this study was to assess the condition of the bridge deck and the prestressing of the beams.

Our analysis showed that the areas with a potential higher corrosion risk were concentrated above the piles where internal forces are the highest. Also, it was detected that chlorides accumulate along the prestressing cables and migrate along it until reaching a low point.

This example illustrates how prestressing cables act as a guide to chloride migration in concrete elements.
